Here's the spontaneous story of Larry Laraga, an octavina player becomes a backup dancer and tours around Europe...goes home, buys a red car, falls in love with dragon boat paddling and currently stumbled upon free diving.
Show Notes
Back in high school, I watched Larry Laraga, perform with the Leyte Kalipayan Dance Company in several occasions and even through their rehearsal in the Boy Scout headquarters hall located in Magsaysay Boulevard of Tacloban City. Their performances of Filipino dances are truly spectacular. The discipline, elegance and execution will definitely make your jaw drop. Add to that, the beautiful rendition of classical Filipino music played live with Filipino musical instruments.
Larry is a performer, dancer and octavina player. He started dreamcatching as soon as he was "tricked" to become a bonafide alumnus of the Leyte Kalipayan Dance Company by going on a European performance tour. He obliged.
After that beautiful experience, the itch to "do more" crept inside him that it soon led him to achieve his dream to buy a "red car" (one funny story) and later pursue his career in the chemical engineering industry. He soon hopped from one job to another until he serendipitously caught into the beat and rhythm of dragon boat paddling.
Yes, Larry paddled his way into competitions together with his crew and they eventually competed in Taiwan in 2019.
As twist in his story, he later found out that he had scoliosis, and this somehow restricted him from continuing with the rigorous dragon boat paddling trainings. However, the "do more" spirit later on introduced him to free diving which helped him to pour his infinite energy and dedication.
Larry's story is a string of beautiful, funny and lightweight experiences.
