Arriving at the summit of Kota Kinabalu, Karl felt like it wasn’t as euphoric as it most would assume, instead, Karl shares that the most memorable parts were the crazy things he had to go through financially, logistically, physically and mentally in order to reach the summit.
Show Notes
Karl was able to summit Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia’s tallest mountain (4,095 mASL) in September of 2017, he shares his crazy journey to the point that he says “I felt like I was gonna die”...
Don’t worry this is not a memoir of Karl, lol, he is well and good as a financial consultant currently; he’s the breadwinner of his family and in this episode you will hear his clingy dogs trying to join our podcast recording 😂
In a way, I understood why deep inside, Karl was able to scale Kota Kinabalu. His mental fortitude comes from a life filled with struggle.
This episode is special because apart from the highlight of climbing one of the planet’s tallest mountains, Karl also shares how he went beyond his mountain of struggles as a breadwinner for his family. Karl is not married yet, yet he assumed responsibility for his family after the passing of his mother.
This story tugged my heart especially because it unravels the ingredients that makes a person mature: challenges and responsibility.
Karl was able to achieve his dreams of Financial literacy and travelling and I think it is valid to say that his dreams took care of him too. Dreams became his safe haven.
In this episode you’ll listen to:
- Why Karl focused on becoming financially literate
- Understanding the internal struggles of breadwinners and the love for the family
- How travel comes in as an outlet that becomes a lifestyle
- Appreciating the people “behind the curtains” and making quality relationships while travelling
- Why the craziest moments are more memorable than achieving goals.
- The Dream of having a family
